Kuhn Rikon Duromatic 3344 Pressure Cooker Review

Saucepan

Welcome back to Top Pressure Cooker Reviews! Today, we take a look at a stainless steel pressure cooker from Kuhn Rikon.

To be more precise, this is our Kuhn Rikon Duromatic 3344 Pressure Cooker Review. We are looking at the saucepan variety today.

Pressure cookers have come a long way since my childhood, becoming sleeker designed and more fashionable than ever!

Pressure cookers are not just for your grandma anymore. Modern stainless steel pressure cookers offer a great way to cook food that is much healthier and seals in all the nutrients!

In addition, the newer versions are fast, quiet, and convenient. They also use 70% less energy than other more traditional methods of cooking. Pressure cooking is a great way to cook food, especially for busy households.

Kuhn Rikon has been around a long time, since 1949 in fact! Kuhn Rikon is a Swiss company that prides themselves on refining and updating the stainless steel pressure cooker design.

The Kuhn 3344 Duromatic comes in the form of a great pressure cooker that is made out of high quality 18/10 stainless steel.

Today, we are looking at the 7.4 quart version (I suppose equivalent to an 8 qt electric cooker). It is also available in 3.7 and 5.3 quart versions, perfect if you are looking for a more compact stainless steel pressure cooker.

I really like the design of this duromatic pressure cooker, whether you look at the stockpot or saucepan variety. Both offer a sleek and cool looking interpretation of the stainless steel pressure cooker. It’s simple, timeless and elegant.

Stove top Vs Electric Pressure Cooker

Before buying any pressure cooker, you need to think about whether you want to go for a stove top or an electric pressure cooker.

On this website, I tend to lean towards the quality and longevity of the stainless steel stove top pressure cooker. The extra cost is worth it, as it will literally last a lifetime!

However, we have a crash course guide on the lower half of our homepage, so that you can decide for yourself!

The black handles stay cool to the touch during the cooking process. Food is cooked evenly as the aluminum disc in the bottom of the pan spreads the heat evenly.

Special Features of the Kuhn Rikon Duromatic 3344 Pressure Cooker Saucepan!

It’s a saucepan

This saucepan variety of the Kuhn Rikon Duromatic pressure cooker gives you an additional handle to hold onto when doing your pressure cooking or canning!!

This is a matter of personal taste, as other than the handle there isn’t much different here when compared to the stockpot version. The stockpot version has a slightly larger capacity model, but that’s about it!

Quality backed by excellent warranty

This Kuhn Rikon Duromatic stainless steel pressure cooker just oozes quality.

I can see this particular Duromatic lasting a long time in any family. Kuhn Rikon obviously agree as they are offering an amazing ten year warranty.

There is much less to go wrong on this type of stainless steel stove top pressure cooker. And even if it does, it is often a simple fix. You can’t really say this about electric pressure cookers or instapots!

Many Great Uses

Saucepan

One of the best things about the stainless steel pressure cooker is that it can be used for almost anything. You can brown your meat in the cooker first and then add the rest of your ingredients along with the lid and have a great meal in just a short amount of time.

If you learn how to use a stainless steel stove top pressure cooker well, you will also have a much better level of control over your pressure cooking. This is because it is much easier for you to regulate the heat and resulting pressure.

The pressure cooker comes with a recipe book to get you started. It will not be long before you will be cooking all of your favourite recipes in this great stainless steel pressure cooker as it offers a fast and easy way to get dinner on the table.

Can it be a pressure canner too?

A lot more people are interested in pressure canning these days, as an alternative to freezing. You can preserve food very efficiently when you do pressure canning well!

Luckily, a quality stainless steel pressure cooker such as this Kuhn Rikon Duromatic is perfect for pressure canning.

In fact if you are interested in pressure canning, a stainless steel pressure cooker is a must (in my opinion).

Over the Top Safety Measures

The Kuhn Rikon stainless steel pressure cooker did not skimp when it comes to safety measures.

The lid will twist onto the pot with a rubber gasket that ensures the seal remains tight. There is a vent to release steam if the pressure becomes too high. There is also an automated lid locking system on the lid that keeps it closed whenever there is any type of pressure at all inside the pot.

I also really like the spring loaded pressure release valve on the top of the lid. It has red markings on it so that you can easily see whether the pressure cooker is at the appropriate pressure level. There is also an option to release steam in a quick or fast manner, when needed.

Overall, this pressure cooker is very safe to use. Many people worry about the safety of using pressure cookers as the older models were a bit unsafe to use. However, this is no longer an issue with modern stainless steel pressure cookers.

There are several great features of the Kuhn Rikon 3344 including:

  • 18/10 stainless steel outside
  • Thermal aluminum sandwiched in bottom for browning and even cooking
  • Five safety systems

What does the average consumer think?

When looking at any electric pressure cooker reviews, we like to consider the average consumer reports. The best place to do this by far is Amazon, a place where you can often see thousands of consumers opinions in one place!

At the time this was written there were almost 103 reviews available. The average customer rating was 3.7 stars out of 5. This might not sound too great, so I will put it another way!

At the time of writing, 83% of reviews were 5 star reviews.

The majority of the people who purchased this pressure cooker were extremely happy with it. They stated that it is extremely fast and easy to clean. They are also impressed with how quiet it is to run. A lot of positive reviews talk about how they are replacing 10 year old (or more) Kuhn Rikon pressure cookers with this product.

The biggest complaint amongst the lower ratings is that the construction is cheap and that the gasket fails after just a short amount of time. As a side note to this, pretty much all of the lower rated reviews are from around 2015 or before. Maybe they had a slight quality control issue that they have now fixed?

Overall, the customer reviews (especially the more recent ones) for this product are very positive. Most people gave the pressure cooker high marks and loved using it as it is convenient and easy.
